The Road to San Antonio

I am not referring to the NCAA Men’s Final Four, but to SAS Global Forum 2008. I know that I have to clarify that statement because I live in North Carolina; smack dab in the middle of University of North Carolina, Duke University, and North Carolina State University (go Wolfpack!). Many mistakenly think that the heart of the Research Triangle Park is the technology companies that make their homes here. Not so. The heart is the universities and the soul is basketball.

Planning our flights to San Antonio involved finding a flight that did not interfere with watching the ACC Tournament final game but still arrived in Texas in time to make it to opening session. Silly me; I’m flying during tip off of the championship game. Oh well. I’m sure that the game will be discussed in great detail as we are preparing to open the demo room on Monday morning.

However, once those doors open it is all business. We’ll be ready to talk about the features of SAS 9.2, provide demonstrations of new products and a few old favorites, as well as answer those burning questions that you brought with you to the conference.

The Support Web site team will be available on the demo floor. We love talking to you. It is one of our few opportunities to find out how you use support.sas.com to solve problems and further your SAS knowledge. We also like to show off our latest changes and additions. This year, we’ll be showing the recently released Samples & SAS Notes browse interface as well as introducing the soon-to-be-released browse interface to SAS documentation for 9.2. We’ll show off a few other search features as well as the discussion forums and anything else you ask to see. But, we don’t want to do all of the talking. We hope to do a lot of listening.

If you are at SAS Global Forum in San Antonio, please visit the demo floor. There is so much to see and learn, visit it more than once. While you are there, look for support.sas.com near the Technical Support booths.

We really do crave feedback — really– so I will be writing blog posts that contain ideas and comments about some of the feedback we have already received concering site changes. You will also start to see small survey boxes appearing on pages around the site. Please take a moment to respond to the questions when you see them.

I’ll see you at SAS Global Forum 2008!

Update: You can watch as SAS prepares for SAS Global Forum. Our video group is interviewing the people behind the scenes working to bring our part of SAS Global Forum to you. The following two videos have been posted to the sascom voices blog. You can also view them on YouTube by using the links provided below.

Enjoy!
