Smart Cats with blogs on stats

Let’s face it: ever since cats learned how to access the Internet, they’ve managed to besmirch their prestigious status as the “smarter-if-a-bit-aloof” pet. They’ve starred in many demeaning YouTube videos, bringing shame to their species for the sake of some cheap laughs.

But I’m here to tell you: there are some smart Cats on the Internet, and a few of these Cats know a lot about statistical analysis.

One of them is right here at blogs.sas.com: it’s Cat Truxillo, Stat Training Specialist with SAS. She’s written some great blog posts over on The SAS Training Post. Her latest post, “Is it Random or Repeated?“, is inspired by a question in her Mixed Models Analysis class.

Another cat-related stats blog that I discovered today is Stats with Cats. This one isn’t specific to SAS, but the latest post, “Ten Fatal Flaws in Data Analysis“, is worth a read for any practicing or aspiring analyst.

I hope that these examples of smart Cats help to reduce the stereotype of the shameless cats on the Internet. However, with counter-examples like this, I’m afraid that it might be a losing battle.
